Privacy policy
Last updated: September 10, 2026
This policy explains what information Cottage Pastures LLC (“Cottage Pastures,” “we,” “us”) collects when you use cottagepastures.com, order from the farm store, join our newsletter, contact us, or visit the farm, and what we do with it. We are a family farm in Vevay, Indiana. We sell to customers in the United States only. Questions about this policy go to hello@cottagepastures.com.

Information you give us
- Orders. Your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping address, what you ordered, and any order notes. You can check out as a guest or create an account. An account stores your addresses and order history so you can reorder.
- Payment. Card payments are handled by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never reaches our server, and we do not save cards for future purchases. If you pay by check, we keep what is written on the check.
- Newsletter. Your email address when you sign up for The Cottager’s Letter, or when you tick the box at checkout. We send a confirmation email first, and every letter has an unsubscribe link.
- Messages. Whatever you send through the contact form, by email, by phone, or in person, including farm-visit and event requests.
- Reviews. If you leave a product review, we publish the review text and the name you enter. Only verified purchasers can review.
- Back-in-stock requests. Your email address and the product you asked to be notified about.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our web host records standard server logs (your IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, and the time), which we use for security and troubleshooting. We use Jetpack Stats to see which pages are visited and roughly where visitors come from. If you arrived from a Google ad, a Google conversion tag tells Google whether that click led to a purchase, so we know which ads are worth paying for. None of this identifies you by name.
How we use your information
- To take, pack, ship, and hand over your order, and to send order confirmations, shipping notices, and receipts.
- To answer your questions and arrange farm pickup, tours, and events.
- To send The Cottager’s Letter if you asked for it.
- To send one email about a week after your order is complete asking how it was. You can ignore it, and you will not be sent another for that order.
- To tell you when a product you asked about is back in stock.
- To keep the site and store secure and to prevent fraud.
- To understand how the site is used and whether our advertising works.
- To keep the records that tax and business law require.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We share only what each service needs to do its job for us:
- Stripe processes card payments and screens for fraud (Stripe privacy policy).
- SiteGround hosts the site on servers in the United States.
- Shipping carriers receive your name, address, and phone number to deliver your order.
- Automattic provides Jetpack Stats and WooCommerce analytics, serves our images through its content delivery network, and screens comments for spam through Akismet (Automattic privacy policy).
- Google receives conversion data from the Google Ads tag, lists our products in Google Shopping through Google Merchant Center (product data only, not customer data), and serves the fonts used on this site (Google privacy policy).
- MailPoet stores our newsletter list and sends The Cottager’s Letter, and Elementor Site Mailer delivers our order and contact emails.
- Our accountant and legal advisers when needed to run the business, and public authorities when the law requires it.
Links on this site to Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, and podcast platforms take you to those services, which follow their own privacy policies.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies:
- Essential. WooCommerce cookies that remember your cart and checkout session, and a login cookie if you sign in to an account. The site does not work without these.
- Payment security. Stripe sets a cookie at checkout to detect fraud.
- Measurement. The Google Ads conversion tag sets cookies to link an ad click to a later purchase. Jetpack Stats counts visits without identifying you.
We do not show a cookie banner because we sell only within the United States and no law that applies to us requires one. You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time. To opt out of Google’s ad measurement, use Google Ads Settings or a browser ad blocker. We do not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signals.
How long we keep it
- Order records: at least seven years, for tax and accounting.
- Account details: until you ask us to delete the account.
- Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe.
- Messages and back-in-stock requests: as long as needed to deal with them.
- Server logs and statistics: a short period, then deleted or aggregated.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS. Card details are handled by Stripe, which is certified to the PCI DSS standard. Only the people who run the farm have access to order information. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable care with what you give us.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
- See, correct, or delete your information. Email hello@cottagepastures.com from the address on your order or account. We will confirm it is you, then send you a copy of what we hold or delete it, except records we must keep by law (such as completed orders). If you have an account, you can update your addresses and details yourself under My Account.
- Stop marketing email. Click unsubscribe in any letter, or email us.
- Cookies. Block or delete them in your browser, as described above.
Some states, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Indiana, give residents rights to access, correct, and delete personal information and to opt out of its sale. We are a small business and may fall below the thresholds where those laws apply, but we honor these requests from anyone, anywhere in the United States. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of. California residents may also request, once a year, a list of any third parties we shared personal information with for their direct marketing; the answer is none.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in The Cottager’s Letter.
