About this cut

Chesnok Red Garlic — The Roasting Garlic

Culinary garlic — Grown for the Kitchen.

Chesnok Red is the garlic we reach for when the oven is on. Roasted whole, it turns sweet and mellow with none of the harsh bite; in slow-cooked dishes it holds its flavor from the first stir to the plate. The purple-striped bulbs are naturally cured on our family farm in Southeastern Indiana and came in well above typical size this year — bulbs run 3–4.5 ounces each.

What to expect

  • 1/2 lb — approximately 2–3 bulbs
  • 1 lb — approximately 4–5 bulbs
  • Typically 8–12 easy-to-peel cloves per bulb
  • Striking purple-striped wrappers; naturally cured; keeps for months in a cool, dry spot in the kitchen

In the kitchen

Squeeze roasted cloves straight onto bread, whip them into mashed potatoes, or tuck a whole head beside a Sunday roast. Raw, it brings a medium, rounded heat that settles beautifully into sauces and dressings.

Bulb count per bag varies with bulb size — we pack to weight, never under.

Shipping: $9.99 flat rate at any weight · shipping begins the week of July 27th, separately from frozen items · limit 5 lb per variety. We’re unable to ship garlic into allium-quarantine counties in Idaho, eastern Oregon, and central Washington, or to Alaska and Hawaii — frozen meat still ships to all of these areas.
